What a composite filling does

A tooth-coloured filling repairs the part of a tooth lost to decay, a chip or wear. The material is bonded directly to the remaining tooth and shaded to match it, so the repair supports the tooth and stays largely invisible.

How the appointment goes

The tooth is numbed if needed, decay is removed, and the cavity is cleaned and prepared. The filling material is placed in layers, set with a curing light, then shaped and polished so your bite feels even before you leave.

Afterwards

A filled tooth can be used normally once any numbness has worn off. Mild sensitivity to cold for a few days is common. If the tooth feels high when you bite together, a small adjustment takes only minutes.
